Joseph and Mary went from Nazareth to Bethlehem to be taxed, and there Jesus (Yeshua) was born. Wise men came from the east to Jerusalem, then to Bethlehem, and went home another way. Joseph took the child and his mother to Egypt. After Herod died, they came back to live in Nazareth. The map's "Magi" are the King James Bible's wise men. The lines show the mapmaker's idea of the roads; the verses do not give them. The return to Nazareth is Luke 2:39, where the map marks 2:40.
